Who I Am
I am a Pākehā New Zealander, mother and widow, and I bring with me over 20 years of experience working in the mental health and addictions sector. Before entering this field, I built an earlier career in business – an experience that shaped my practical, grounded approach to supporting others.
Throughout my career I have worked with people from all walks of life, supporting individuals facing addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship struggles, workplace stress, and major life transitions. I also bring personal lived experience of alcohol addiction, anxiety, and depression, which gives me a deep understanding of the courage it takes to reach out and ask for help.
I warmly welcome individuals of all ethnicities, cultures, sexual orientations, and gender identities.
My Approach to Counselling
I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every person's story is unique, and the support I offer reflects that.
I use a strengths-based, holistic, client-centred approach that draws on the ideas of narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy. My practice is trauma-informed, and I have completed training in BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT), Written Exposure Therapy (WET) and foundational training in somatic approaches.
I work at your pace, in a non-judgmental and supportive way, helping you reflect, reset, and move forward with practical strategies that create meaningful and lasting change.
What I Believe
I believe that every person is an expert in their own life. Counselling is not about being told what to do – it is about being supported to discover your own strengths, insights, and direction.
Healing happens when we feel heard, understood, and safe enough to explore what has been holding us back. With the right support, reflection, and practical tools, change is possible.
Many of you may be using AI for your mental health support, and while that can support the change process, it can’t replace the care, warmth and understanding that a qualified therapist brings.
I offer a safe and confidential space where you can explore your experiences honestly and begin to move toward greater clarity and wellbeing.
